This classic, large terra-cotta tagine, is the ultimate cooking vessel that can be used on the stove and grill, or in the oven! The tagine is a traditional North African cooking vessel that was used for centuries by nomads to cook over an open flame. Fast-forward to modern times, it is still an ideal vessel for cooking over flame, either on your gas stove or on a grill. It can also be used to cook in the oven as well! These tagines are also microwave and dishwasher safe.

NOTE: If you are using an electric stove, it important to use a diffuser to ensure your tagine does not crack while using it to cook

The tagine is wonderful, because it can be used to make one pot meals. Brush your tagine base with oil, add a layer of veggies, then add a layer of meat, poultry or fish (your choice). Next add more oil/seasonings, and then some broth or water to ensure everything cooked remains tender. Then just cover and cook! Be sure to follow a recipe directly, but this is the general idea!

This ceramic tagine is oven safe, up to a temperature of 325 degrees. It is also microwave and dishwasher safe.

Prior to serving, be sure to let your tagine cool in oven a bit before transferring to a cork board or pot holder. Sudden temperature changes could cause your tagine to crack.

Tagines are best for slow cooking over low-medium heat – they are the original Crock-Pot 🙂 (or think Dutch oven)
